Nice Hotel, rooms and employees in a very bad neighborhood

The hotel employees were very courteous and were quick to get my party to their rooms. The valet was superb and your hotel looks very nice. The breakfast was very good and I enjoyed my room with its unique ceilings and windows. The area surrounding your hotel is dangerous to say the least, there were people loitering in front of the hotel that were not staying there and your security did move them along while being very courteous. I was worried about him and stayed nearby but he handled it very well. There are cars revving their engines and racing up and down the streets all hours of the night and there were people fighting in the street. It is a beautiful hotel in a bad neighborhood

The hotel was breath taking. It had a vintage vibe that we thought was very elegant. The room door reminded us of a library/office door. The room was spacious and clean with a full size frig and one burner stove. We were very comfortable, not to mention, the staff was friendly and accommodating.

Let me start by saying I've been a frequent traveler for many of the past 30 years, and a frequent IHG traveler for the past 4.
I typically stay at Intercontinental, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn / Express hotels.
This past weekend alone, I had 3 stays in the Staybridge Suites brand - so I'm now somewhat familiar with that brand too.
My family had 4 rooms in this hotel this weekend (1 to 3 nights each) - all 8 of us had a terrific experience.
To start, while the brand is similar to other Staybridge Suites', the rooms here are larger and taller than what I experienced elsewhere - the Standard Queen room I had, for example, had 2 queen beds, a full-size sofa with divan on one side, 2 ottomans, a desk/chair, and drawers/TV stand. That's in addition to the bathroom area, makeup area and kitchen area.
All rooms were very clean.
Beds are soft/plush and comfortable.
Even better - ceilings in the rooms were much higher than normal (11 feet?) - giving the rooms an additional spacious feel as well as a uniqueness beyond the brand.
Speaking of the unique touch - the hotel itself has history which is evident in little touches - from the metalwork in the elevators to the vintage grain vaults in the dining area, left over from when the building was a Chamber of Commerce.
Every one of the staff, from the valet parking to the front desk to the housekeepers, were respectful, courteous and thorough.
For example, Letitia at the front desk staff had to juggle changes to my 5 reservations (4 in conjunction with central IHG staff) while 2 of my family were simultaneously trying to check in with her - she did a tremendous job.
She also doubled as concierge, giving me both fact and opinion about different parts of Baltimore and helping us find appropriate locations to visit while in town.
The valet service was prompt, proactive and courteous.
The staff was also careful to restrict late-hours entry only to known persons.
Chadi, the manager, was similarly terrific - he and I spend a few minutes interacting just before checkout.
He clearly cares about both the staff and the guests and wants to ensure people get the best experience they can.
The only two items I'd have preferred to be a bit different: The mattress (I like firmer rather than plush - that's a matter of taste), and the water pressure (I like it very strong - also a matter of taste) - the shower head is adjustable in terms of pressure, however. So no complaints - just personal preference.
I'd put this hotel on par with a good Crowne Plaza, my favorite IHG brand; whereas the other Staybridge stays this weekend felt more like a much more middle-of-the-road Holiday Inn.
We'd come back to this hotel the next time we're in Baltimore, for certain! Great rooms, great staff, great hotel!
